Student was killed in hacking, suspect Habal-habal driver

SOMINOT, Zamboanga Del Sur (Dec. 19, 2018) – Student was killed in Hacking incident transpired at Purok 5, Brgy. Upper Sicpao, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 6:30 PM of December 18, 2018. 

The victim was identified as Marjun E. Ortega, 23 years old, separated, student and a resident of Purok 7, Brgy. Upper Sicpao, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The Suspect was identified as Junil Langoyan, legal age, habal-habal driver and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy. Tungawan, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Investigation conducted by Sominot MPS disclosed that the motive of the incident was personal grudge. Wherein both of them was under the influence of liquor and was started in heated altercation that resulted to strike the suspect towards the victim by using a bolo.

  

Victim sustained Hack wounds on his forehead and his left ear and was rushed to Midsalip Infirmary Hospital for medication and subsequently transferred at MARHS Hospital, Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental for immediate medication.

Suspect had fled away heading to Poblacion Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur on board on his single motorcycle.

Housekeeper Held for Libel

SOMINOT, Zamboanga Del Sur (Dec. 13, 2018) - PNP personnel of Sominot MPS conducted police operation on wanted person (Service of Arrest Warrant) at Purok 7, Barangay Bulanay, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 11:30 AM of December 12, 2018.

The operation was resulted to the arrest of Marry Macalua Y Looc, 39 years old, housekeeper, married and a resident of Purok 7, Barangay Bulanay, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The accused was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest for the crime of Libel in relation to R.A. 10175 docketed under Criminal Case No. Q- R-QZN-18-04754-CR issued on October 12, 2018 by Honorable Judge Arthur O. Malabaguio, Presiding Judge, RTC, National Capital Judicial Region, Branch 93, Quezon City with bail bond recommended of Thirty Thousand pesos (Php30, 000.00) for her temporary liberty.

The arrested person is now under the custody of Sominot MPS for proper disposition.

1 killed in Stabbing Incident

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (Dec. 3, 2018) – One persn was killed in Stabbing incident transpired at Purok Tinago, Brgy. Poblacion, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 7:30 PM of December 2, 2018. 

Upon received of such information, PNP personnel 902nd RMFB9 and Sominot Municipal Police Station immediately verify the veracity of report. The team arrived at the crime scene at around 7:32 PM of same date.

Investigation conducted disclosed that victim identified as Rolly Davis Y Piante, 34 years old, married, casual employee of LGU Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur and a resident of Purok Tinago, Brgy. Poblacion, Sominot and Province laydown bathed his own blood.

Investigation further disclosed that victim was allegedly stabbed by suspects identified as Jeriel Gonzaga Y Olila, 19 years old, single and Rogelio Asuro, 29 years old, married both habal-habal driver, and a resident of Brgy. San Miguel, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Victim sustained multiple stabbed wounds on the different parts of his body and immediately ferried with PNP Patrol Car and brought to Midsalip Infirmary Hospital for medication and declared dead on arrival by the attending Hospital personnel.

Suspect was met by the responding team at the road near the crime scene and voluntary submit himself while Rogelio Asuro was arrested at his residence at Purok 1, Brgy. San Miguel, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Investigation further conducted disclosed that suspects were onboard on their different Motorcycles went to the house of the victim and shouted, call the attention of the latter and thereat, challenged to a fistfight until such time suspect Jeriel Gonzaga grabbed his opportunity and stabbed the victim.

Recovered at the crime scene is a scabbard measuring more or less seven (7) inches long while motive of the incident is personal grudges.

Sominot MPS is now preparing complaint against the suspect thru inquest proceedings for the crime of Murder.

Shooting Incident

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (Oct. 21, 2018) - Shooting incident occurred near the Brgy. Hall of Barangay Lumangoy, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at around 8:30 PM of October 20, 2018.

Upon received of the information, considering the location/distance and terrain of the said barangay PNP personnel of Sominot MPS coordinated to Alpha coy, 53rd Infantry Battalion of Philippine Army base in Dumingag, Zamboanga Del and proceeded to the area to confirm the veracity of the report.  

The responding team arrived at about 11:20 o`clock morning in the same date.

Initial investigation conducted by Sominot MPS revealed that incident transpired at more or less 8:30pm of aforesaid date.

Further investigation disclosed that, the alleged suspects had fired many times at the yard of the house of Hon. Wennie Y. Podiotan, 38 years old, married, Barangay Chairman of the aforementioned Barangay.

Investigation conducted, the team recovered nine pieces of empty shells of caliber 5.56mm (M16), and four pieces of live ammunition of 5.56mm (M16) rifle, three pieces of fired cartridge cases and two slugs of caliber 45 pistol.

Investigator on case conducted further investigation disclosed that the house of Brgy. Capt. Wennie Podiotan was hit thru and thru particularly on the door jam and the wall.

Fortunately, honorable Podiotan and his family members were not hit during the alleged shooting. Brgy. Councilor Arjie Martil revealed that he saw two persons armed with unidentified long firearms fired several times on air and on the ground and shouted to quote “Yawa Kang Kapitana Ka” unquote other witness overheard the suspects saying “Ayaw Mo’g Gawas Arun Walay Kinabuhi Makalas”.

Not long thereafter, the suspects disappeared from darkness. Motive of the incident is still under investigation.

The Joint elements of Sominot MPS and 53d Infantry Battalion of Phil. Army have conducted hot pursuit operation towards their escaped route. Investigator is PO3 Rennie Boy Z Calunsag with CP NO. 09464994937.

Homicide Suspect Arrested in joint Police operation

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (Oct. 4, 2018) - The Cabanatuan City Police Station, Nueva Ecija and Sominot Municipal Police Station carried out a Police Operation against Wanted Person in Purok 3, Barangay Barubuhan, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at around 6:00 P.M. of October 3, 2018, police official said.

Police Regional Office 9 PIO Chief PCINSP Helen L. Galvez disclosed that the operation was resulted to the arrest of the suspect identified as Victor Gumatay Y Mutya A.K.A. Victor Tagaoc Y Gumatay, 42 years old, carpenter, single, and a resident of aforementioned place.

The operating team arrested the accused by virtue of Alias WOA docketed under Criminal Case # 26509-AF for the crime of Homicide with bail bond recommended of Forty Thousand Pesos (Php40,000.00) issued by Hon. Judge Trese D. Wenceslao, Presiding Judge of RTC, 3rd Judicial Region, Branch 28, Cabanatuan City dated August 15, 2018, Galvez said.

Galvez added that the subject wanted person was immediately apprised of his constitutional rights and was brought to Sominot MPS for proper disposition. Same will be subjected for booking and documentation prior turn-over to proper judicial authority who issued the warrant.

Alleged Robbery Incident

SOMINOT, ZamboSur (Aug. 9, 2018) - An alleged robbery incident transpired at Purok 7, Brgy. Lantawan, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 1:15 PM of August 8, 2018.

The police identified the victim as Ariel Cubian Y Mausa, 30 years old, married, Micro Finance Collector of ASA Philippines Foundation Incorporated and a resident of Poblacion A, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Initial investigation conducted that while the victim was driving his single motorcycle from Barangay Lantawan collecting sum of money from their lending business going back to Poblacion proper, upon reaching the grassy/hilly road and desolated part of Purok 7, Barangay Rizal, one suspect wearing facemask (bonnet) blocked his way and drew short firearm unto him.

Another two suspects approached him from his back, one of the suspects told him in Tagalog dialect “Wag Kang Gagalaw”. The suspects allegedly carted away his collection worth thirty thousand pesos (Php30, 000.00), more or less.

According to the victim, the suspects fled away by foot towards the western part direction where Barangay Upper Sicpao is located. PNP elements Sominot MPS is continuously conducting hot pursuit operation towards their escaped route.

Murder suspect arrested in Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (Aug. 7, 2018) – The PNP personnel of Sominot MPS conducted police operation on wanted person (Service of Arrest Warrant) at about 3:30pm of August 05, 2018 at Purok 3, Sitio Lamak, Barangay. Rebe, Lala, Lanao Del Norte.

The Police identified the arrested wanted person as Diomedes Sedrome Y Rabanes aKa “Diome”, 57 years old, farmer, married and a resident Sitio Lamak, Brgy. Rebe, Lala, Lanao Del Norte.

The accused was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest docketed under Criminal Case Number 03-10,348 forMurder issued by Hon. Judge Loreto P Quinto, Presiding Judge, RTC, 9TH Judicial Region, Branch 30, Aurora, ZamboangaDel Sur dated October 25, 2004, No Bail Recommended.

The accused is now temporarily detained at SominotMPS detention cell waiting for court disposition.

Cargo Truck Loaded with Mahogany Timbers Held in Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (Aug. 1, 2018) – The PNP personnel of Sominot Municipal Police Station (MPS) intercepted one colored brown Isuzu Truck Cargo Drop side (Comong-Comong) while conducting mobile patrol at Barangay Poblacion, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at around 10:00pm of July 26, 2018. The cargo truck bearing Plate Nr. JEN 641 loaded with voluminous number of Mahogany round logs/timber.

Jesseco Bajao Tejamo drove the said cargo truck, 38 years old, married and a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Monte Alegre, Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur.

The driver when asked about the pertinent documents relative to the transported round logs, he only presented a Certification from Barangay Tungawan signed by Hon. Elizabeth M Pangasian with Official Receipt No. 1487604. Thus, at the time of the inspection he failed to present the required and necessary documents before the same will be transported like Permit To Cut, Permit To Transport, Certificate Of Verification (COV), Certificate Of Transport Agreement (CTA) and the Scale/Tally Sheets stipulating therein the exact dimensions of loaded timber from the authorized agency.

The driver was also asked about the Certificate of Registration (CR)/Official Receipt (OR) of the Cargo Truck (above stipulated), the same has failed to present.

PNP personnel of Sominot MPS immediately coordinated to Mr. Alvin B. Pitogo, Local/Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Sominot of which he immediately responded. He personally explained to the driver that aside from the documents stipulated above, they should secure Certification from the Barangays to the origin of the timber and Mayor’s Permitas to the transportation of the same. A corresponding Official Receipt (OR) will be issued for the matter.

The confiscated timber (mahogany round logs) is estimated around Five Thousand (5,000.00) board feetwith an estimated market value of one hundred twenty thousand pesos (Php120, 000.00) which is now under the custody of Sominot MPS for safekeeping and further verification.

Rape Suspect and Child Abuser Arrested in Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (July 27, 2018) -  The PNP personnel of SominotMunicipal Police Station (MPS) successfully arrested the wanted person duringconduct ofpolice operation on wanted person (Service of Arrest Warrant) at about 5:00amof July24, 2018 at Purok 3, Barangay Bag-ong Baroy in Sominot muicipality, Zamboanga Del Sur, police official said.

Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9) PIO Chief PCINSP Helen L. Galvez identified the arrested wanted personasRique Manisan Y Ugmad, 39 years old, farmer, married, and a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Bag-ong Baroy, Sominot.

PCINSP Galvez said that during the police operation, the operatives was able to recover from the possession and controls of the suspect two improvised marble-feed Air Gun (SUPLONG).

PCINSP Galvez added that the accused was arrested by virtue of Warrants of Arrest docketed under Criminal Case Number 17-10, 1460 for Qualified Rape by Sexual Assault and Criminal Case Number 17-10, 1459 for Child Abuse. Both Warrant of Arrest were issued by Hon. Judge Analyn F. Ramas-Costanilla, Presiding Judge of RTC, 9TH Judicial Region, Branch 30, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur dated October 2, 2017.

The case has recommended bail for his temporary liberty for Qualified Rape by Sexual Assault is fixed at Two Hundred Thousand (Php200,000.00) pesos and for Child Abuse is fixed at Eighty Thousand (Php80,000.00) pesos, Galvez said.

Bulanay, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur.

Police identified the arrest housewife as Marry Macalua Y Looc, 39 years old, married and a resident of Purok 7, Bgry. Bulanay, Sominot of this province.

The accused was arrested by virtue of Warrant of Arrest ocketed under Criminal Case Number Q-R-QZN-18-04754-CR for Libel in relation to R.A. 10175 issued by Hon. Judge Arthur O. Homicide Suspect Arrested in Sominot

PNP personnel of Sominot MPS conducted manhunt operation against wanted person Purok 2, Brgy. Datagan, Sominot, Zamboanga del Sur at about 4:00 PM of May 12, 2018.

This resulted in the arrest of Romnick Langilan, 31 years old, married, farmer and a resident of said place.

This is by virtue of Alias Warrant of Arrest Docketed under Criminal Case Number 13- 10,968 for Homicide issued by Hon. Judge Jaime B. Caberte, Acting Presiding Judge, RTC, 9th Judicial Region, Branch 30, Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

Bail for his temporary liberty is fixed to forty thousand (Php 40,000.00) pesos.   Arrested accused is now temporary detained at Sominot MPS locked-up cell while waiting the court order of the issuing court for proper disposition.   

Barangay Chairman Candidate survives in ambushed but 1 killed and 1 wounded in Sominot

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur (April 10, 2018) – A Barangay Chairman Candidate of Barangay Barubuhan in the municipality of Sominot of this province survived in ambushed but his 1 companion killed and 1 wounded while riding their motorcycles convoy on their way along Barangay Poblacion were ambushed by undetermined number of armed men Sunday at 5pm, police official said.

Municipal Police Station Chie of Police Senior Inspector Juvic Aballe identified the victim as Rolando Labad, 53, former member of Citizen Armforces Geograpichal Unit (CAFGU) and presently casual employee ng LGU-Sominot who sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body that resulted to his sudden death. The wounded identified as Carlito Murcia, 44, SSominot-LGU employee and resident of said town who sustained gunshot wound at his right leg nd was brought immediately to the nearby hospital for treatment.

Police Senior Inspector Aballe said that based in their initial investigation disclosed the the group headed by Santiago Miñosa, 58, Barangay Chairman Candidate of Barangay Barubuhan for this coming Barangay and SK Election under the PDP Laban Party. Miñosa together with his 4 companion on board their motorcycles convoy going to the resident of Miñosa but while along their way passing along Barangay Poblocion and upon reaching Purok 3, Barangay Barubuhan of the said town they were ambushed by unidentified armed men.

Luckily the Brangay Chairman Candidate Santiago Miñosa and Enrico Estrada, 54, casual LGU-Sominot employee were not hit and able to evade from the suspects, P/SInsp. Aballe added.

 

The suspects after the incident fled towards Barangay Waling-Waling Cave in Sitio Puting Bato, Barangay Upper Sicpao of the said municipality.

The responding Police operatives recovered from the crime scene 42 assorted empty shells of Cal.5.56 mm and Cal.45 including 2 live ammunition of M16 Armalite Rifle.

P/SInsp. Aballe also disclosed that the motive behind the ambushed might politics due to rivalry of position in the coming Barangay and SK election.

The Sominot Police operatives is now on hot-pursuit operation against the fleeing suspects. (With reports from Perd Libor)

Police conducts dialogue Kontra Krimen at Katiwalian

SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (April 9, 2018) – The personnel of Siminot Municipal Police Station headed by Chief of Police Senior Inspector Juvic Daing Aballe conducted a dialogue on Kontra Krimen at Katiwalian (KKK) at Barangay Poblacion of this municipality.

PO2 Julius Dullin Ebisa who led the said activity on April 5, 2018 at 9:30am that ended at about 10:00am.
