SOMINOT, Zamboanga del Sur (Aug. 1, 2018) – The PNP personnel
of Sominot Municipal Police Station (MPS) intercepted one colored brown Isuzu
Truck Cargo Drop side (Comong-Comong) while conducting mobile patrol at
Barangay Poblacion, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur at around 10:00pm of July 26,
2018. The cargo truck bearing Plate Nr. JEN 641 loaded with voluminous number
of Mahogany round logs/timber.

Bajao Tejamo drove the said cargo truck, 38 years old, married and a resident
of Purok 5, Barangay Monte Alegre, Aurora, Zamboanga Del Sur.
The
driver when asked about the pertinent documents relative to the transported
round logs, he only presented a Certification from Barangay Tungawan signed by
Hon. Elizabeth M Pangasian with Official Receipt No. 1487604. Thus, at the time
of the inspection he failed to present the required and necessary documents
before the same will be transported like Permit To Cut, Permit To Transport,
Certificate Of Verification (COV), Certificate Of Transport Agreement (CTA) and
the Scale/Tally Sheets stipulating therein the exact dimensions of loaded
timber from the authorized agency.
The
driver was also asked about the Certificate of Registration (CR)/Official
Receipt (OR) of the Cargo Truck (above stipulated), the same has failed to
present.
PNP
personnel of Sominot MPS immediately coordinated to Mr. Alvin B. Pitogo,
Local/Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Sominot of which
he immediately responded. He personally explained to the driver that aside from
the documents stipulated above, they should secure Certification from the
Barangays to the origin of the timber and Mayor’s Permitas to the
transportation of the same. A corresponding Official Receipt (OR) will be
issued for the matter.
The
confiscated timber (mahogany round logs) is estimated around Five Thousand
(5,000.00) board feetwith an estimated market value of one hundred twenty
thousand pesos (Php120, 000.00) which is now under the custody of Sominot MPS
for safekeeping and further verification.
